BUCKS COUNTY HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENTS

Household products containing toxic chemicals, like pesticides, oil-based paints, solvents, cleaning products, weed killers, pool chemicals, rust/paint remover, antifreeze, and automotive batteries can be a threat to people and the environment if improperly discarded. Never throw these materials in to the trash, as toxic chemicals may harm sanitation workers, or result in fires in collection vehicles. Engine Oil: You can safely dispose of used engine oil at the Public Works Building 237 Hollow Horn Road, Pipersville, PA. But please, NO gas, transmission fluid or anti-freeze!

Single Use Plastic Bags & Drycleaning Plastic: Most grocery stores, such as Giant and Acme, have boxes at the front of the store for grocery bags and dry cleaning bags. Return dry cleaner hangers to the dry cleaner.

• Fluorescent Bulbs Bethlehem Apparatus Company in Hellertown (610) 838-7034 will recycle your fluorescent tubes. Home Depot will recycle the spiral light bulbs, but not the fluorescent tubes. Consider using LEDs in the future – they don’t contain mercury.
• Ink cartridges & toner cartridges can be recycled at Staples stores.
• Cell phones and cell phone accessories can be returned to any cell phone carriers, such as Verizon, Sprint or Best Buy. Also check with www.awomansplace.org, www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com, or other charities.

• Alkaline Batteries, which are ordinary household batteries (AAA, AA, C, and D), are now manufactured with less mercury and fall below Federal and State hazardous waste standards allowing them to be disposed of in the regular trash.

RECYCLE CLOTHING AT THE DELAWARE VALLEY FIRE CO.
Clothes, coats, shoes, boots, sneakers, belts, purses, blankets, pillows, sheets or stuffed animals can be recycled at the new clothing shed at the Delaware Valley Fire Company at 75 Headquarters Rd. in Erwinna. Tax-deduction forms are available on site.
WORTHWHILE THRIFT
