Traffic Detour Begins Monday, September 30
King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin Monday, September 30, on a project to replace the Wismer Road bridge over Hickory Creek in Plumstead Township, Bucks County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, September 30, through late February, Wismer Road will be closed between Ferry Road and Carversville Road. During the closure, motorists are directed to use Point Pleasant Pike, Route 32 (River Road), Green Hill Road, Mechanicsville Road, Aquetong Road, and Carversville Road.
Local access will be maintained. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Built in 1937, the existing 12-foot-long, 23-foot-wide single-span rolled steel I-beam bridge will be replaced with a single-span concrete box culvert. The structure carries an average of 1,289 vehicles per day.
Wismer Road bridge is one of seven structures in Bucks and Montgomery counties that PennDOT is rehabilitating or replacing under this $7,987,000 project.
